Today we are celebrating SDG Flag Day, a global day of action, at the KKL Luzern together with numerous international institutions. By flying the SDG flag, we are reaffirming our commitment to a more sustainable and future-proof world. This day was created to raise awareness of the global challenges of our time and to encourage organisations worldwide to actively contribute to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The SDGs were adopted by the United Nations on 25 September 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda. The SDG Flag Day offers a platform to raise public awareness of this vision of a sustainable future and to make concrete measures visible. Through their participation, institutions such as the KKL Luzern send a strong signal of solidarity and commitment to global challenges.
The KKL Luzern has also committed itself to the goals of the 2030 Agenda. In 2023, KKL Management AG joined the UN Global Compact, an initiative supported by the United Nations that encourages companies worldwide to take sustainable and socially responsible measures and report on them transparently. This enables us to further professionalise our sustainability efforts, with a particular focus on the topics of environment & climate, sustainable supply chains, sustainability reporting and the Sustainable Development Goals.
By taking part in SDG Flag Day, we are reaffirming our responsibility for sustainable development and placing particular emphasis on five key SDGs that characterise our actions:
SDG 5: Gender equality
We promote an inclusive and diverse community in which all people have equal opportunities and rights.
SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth
We work in partnership with our organisers and customers to operate our company independently and create a meaningful working environment characterised by individual support, diverse learning opportunities and a healthy work-life balance. The well-being, safety and mutual respect of our employees are at the centre of everything we do.
SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
We promote sustainable mobility, reduce deliveries through collaboration with suppliers and make sustainability an integral part of our internal and external communication. We also ensure that our events are accessible to all people, regardless of mobility restrictions.
SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production
We focus on local, seasonal and resource-conserving ingredients and promote the local economy through partnerships with regional suppliers.
SDG 13: Climate action
We monitor our energy consumption and reduce ourCO2 emissions through targeted structural measures and responsible behaviour.
The 17 SDGs provide a clear signpost for the future by identifying solutions to global problems and offering opportunities for action. These goals are of central importance to the KKL Luzern, as they reflect our values and visions. They guide our actions and help us to make our contribution to a more sustainable and future-proof world.
Through our participation in SDG Flag Day, the KKL Luzern is emphasising its commitment, not only as a cultural institution, but also as a responsible player in the global community. Together, we are committed to a sustainable world - today, tomorrow and in the future.
