A sensational success: in February and March 2026, *The Lion King – In Concert Live to Film* thrilled audiences with a total of nine sold-out performances and around 14,000 visitors. Due to overwhelming demand and enthusiastic response, the acclaimed production is now returning to KKL Luzern.
Few films have created as many personal memories and emotions across entire generations as Disney’s *The Lion King*. It all began around 30 years ago with the legendary animated film about the young lion Simba, who sets out to find his place in the eternal Circle of Life. The vast plains of the African savannah and the captivating stories of its inhabitants have since become deeply rooted in the minds and hearts of audiences.
The emotional backbone of this Disney classic—dealing with themes such as betrayal, coming of age, death, and rebirth—is its legendary soundtrack: African rhythms and sounds combined with monumental, epic melodies. In keeping with Walt Disney’s pioneering spirit, the film was given a contemporary approach and an unprecedented level of emotion and realism in 2019 with a visually stunning live-action remake. Remaining true to the spirit of the original, Academy and Grammy Award winner Hans Zimmer once again composed the score. The result: both a cinematic and musical masterpiece that delivers goosebumps.
