EPIC – Legendary Soundtracks

20th Anniversary Concert of the 21st Century Chorus

Powerful images, monumental music: anyone who goes to the cinema is looking for those spine-tingling moments. Music always plays a crucial role in this – for it is music alone that lends images their emotional depth. However, film music only unfolds its full impact when performed live in a concert hall.

In 2027, the 21st Century Chorus will celebrate its 20th anniversary. This special anniversary forms the starting point for an extraordinary concert programme: numerous musical highlights have been selected from two decades of successful choral history, paying tribute to the ensemble’s artistic development and international success. Together with the 21st Century Orchestra, over 160 performers will take to the stage to perform monumental film music with impressive intensity.

The evening centres on works from the original soundtracks of Hollywood’s most prominent composers, including Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, James Newton Howard, James Horner and many more. The programme features musical highlights from great film classics such as ‘The Lord of the Rings’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘Star Wars’, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ and ‘Gladiator’.

The audience embarks on an epic musical journey to the Scottish Highlands, Middle-earth and ancient Rome, the Middle Ages and the future. A gala concert that translates monumental imagery into music – and guarantees goosebumps.
