Works & Composers: Selection from Plácido Domingo's rich opera repertoire of arias and duets

Plácido Domingo is known worldwide as a versatile and influential singer and conductor. The twelve-time winner of the Grammy Awards has sung 150 roles in over 4,000 performances. In addition to numerous opera recordings and CD productions, he made three opera films: "Carmen", "La traviata" and "Otello". His TV version of "Tosca" at the original locations in Rome was broadcast in 117 countries and seen by more than a billion viewers. In 1990, he founded the "Three Tenors" with José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti, who were able to attract new audiences to the opera through their worldwide success. In 2009 Plácido Domingo sang Simon Boccanegra, his first baritone role. Since then he has sung Rigoletto, Nabucco, Gianni Schicchi, Luisa Miller, Tamerlano and Les pêcheurs de perles, among others.

As a conductor, he has conducted over 500 opera performances and concerts, including the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras and the Staatskapelle Berlin. In summer 2018 he will make his debut at the Bayreuth Festival as musical director of "Die Walküre". In 1993 he created the singing competition "Operalia", which was important for the careers of many singers who have since become internationally successful.
