Unforgettable, legendary, epochal - for 50 years, Steven Spielberg and John Williams have enchanted cinema audiences together with masterpieces such as "E.T.," "Indiana Jones" and "Schindler's List. Experience the pearls from the joint work of the two film giants in concert portrait!
What began in 1974 with "The Sugarland Express" turned out to be the most comprehensive Hollywood collaboration to date. To date, John Williams has scored 31 feature films for which Steven Spielberg was responsible for the direction. In addition, Spielberg has acted as producer on several occasions when Williams has swung the baton - most recently for the 5th "Indiana Jones" adventure.
Williams and Spielberg have hardly skipped a genre and play on the entire keyboard of emotions. "Jaws," "Indiana Jones," "E.T.," "Jurassic Park," "Schindler's List" - just a handful of their joint films with distinctive scores. Who doesn't know Raiders March as the epitome of thrilling adventure cinema?! Who doesn't get a shiver from the dark motif of "Jaws"? Who won't be moved to tears by the violin playing in "Schindler's List"? And so it goes on dozens of times...
In keeping with Spielberg's multi-faceted filmmaking, Williams created music that ranges from gruesome horror to heroic adventure to harrowing drama with elegiac instrumental solos, stirring marches and epic symphonies. Spielberg: "Without John Williams, bicycles don't fly, dinosaurs don't walk the earth; we don't marvel, we don't cry, we don't ponder what is shown as believable. John has elevated every film we've made together."
The masterful, multi-layered film music of John Williams has accompanied the City Light Symphony Orchestra since its inception. With "A Tribute to Williams & Spielberg - Celebrating 50 Years of Movie & Music History," the musicians celebrate the world-famous and lesser-known highlights of this legendary duo, with each note kicking open doors to worlds. Travel through space and time with Steven Spielberg's and John Williams' masterful stories and melodies!
